TUNIS, Tunisia, April 27 (UPI) -- A Tunisian family alleges their daughter was raped during a telephone conversation with a man, a lawyer for the family said.

The 30-year-old man said he never touched the young woman. But he acknowledged he heard her scream while they were "totally into" an erotic telephone conversation -- and that she reported bleeding, Al Arabiya reported.

Maha al-Metebaa, a lawyer representing the family, told the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabs the case needs careful investigation because of its unprecedented allegations. He said a medical examination had determined that the woman, 20, was no longer a virgin.

"The intercourse did take place with all its details but verbally only," he said. "The sexual act did not really happen because the physical proximity factor is not there, yet it happened because there is a direct physical impact – the loss of virginity."

medico-Legal definition of rape [atleast in India]-a man commits rape if he has sexual intercourse with a woman 1)against her will 2) with her consent by putting her in fear 3) false identity 4) with consent but at that time she was in a state of intoxication....

none of these things has happened in the above case and only god and he[the lawyer] knows how such a case can be valid for a legal procedure..!!!!!.......no wonder we are being exploited by the opposite sex!!!...:P

Since we are posted in Bowring this month [medicine] i have to catch 2 buses enroute to reach Shivajinagar...today luckily on the way to market got a seat and when was just enjoying the moment a fat lady [with her bulky luggage] who had just boarded the bus from the back door[ladies are supposed to board the bus only from the front door in bang] came and stood next to me and remarked "let me sit in ur place with my huge luggage"...i was totally taken aback [!!!]and replied dryly "why shd i?..ladies are supposed to sit in the front rows so go there and ask"..for which she didnt bother to reply and i just sat there pretending like nothing happended.....[ would have helped her if she had been more polite or courteous]

nick names...

everyone will have quite a few nick names attached to them [and also pet names] and am no different...until now i have been called by abt half a dozen nick names and some of which are quite funny...here are some of those...

1) sanna-yeah sanna which means small [which is a misnomer now:D]....there is quite an interesting story for its origin...1)when we were born [myself and my TWIN bro] our total body weight was 3.6kg [1.6 + 2 kg] so according to IPA [indian paediatric association] we were in the LowbirthWeight(LBW)category [less than 2.5 kg is LBW]..and since [unluckily] i was thinner than him they started calling me sanna [which means small] and my twin bro dodda[ which means big]...this name exists even now and to be frank some of my relatives even today still think that my real name is sanna and not Pratap..:(...

2) chikka-really hate this name [sounds like a chicken]..this was kept by our neighbour and really used to hate her for calling me by this name.....

3) mule mansa [bony fellow]..this was kept by my cousin bro for the simple reason that he was able to count all the 12 ribs on my bare chest...

4) kaddi [a stick]..by my big bro who is very proud of himself for his so called physique and tries to show this by calling me by this name!!!!

so can u see that the real reason am thin is not me or my diet but the my birthweight and am just maintaining [with great difficulty and hard work :D] it .....

today while just browsing came across the latest top ten songs enlisted in billboard.com where this song called 4 minutes by madonna featuring timbaland was in 4th position...this is the first time 2 completely different kind of artists are collabrating with each other[timbaland has always been one of my favourites-a multi grammy winner and queen of pop Madonna] and was immediately hooked on to the song!!!

weekend

abba!..at last the weekend has arrived and am quite happy about it..can just eat,sleep and relax a bit now....today had pretty hectic schedule in medicine wards..saw some very good hemiplagia [paralysis of same side arm and leg] and post tuberculosis lung collapse cases [yeah tb is still a major health hazard in this part of the world that too more now due to hiv]....overall it was quite a good learning experience both from exam point of view and patient interactions...two things that i have learned from past few years [3] from experience[ its a good teacher] is that 1) never treat your patients as a person with intelligence but as a person with emotions..2) always ask for their symptoms [their complaints] in such a way that they get a chance to choose from a set of options given by you without asking any leading question! [like its better to ask him the types of sputum by describing him all the types and tell him to describe rather than asking him the question directly]...today my plans are to watch untraceable movie and sleep!!!!!!

Revised national tb control programme [RNTCP]-national programme aimed at eliminating tb in india through DOTS(directly observed treatment under supervision) [successful to quite an extent]....such a centre in Bangalore is located only in our college!!

medicine

finally our medicine postings started this week [after skin]...and this time unluckily we are posted in a hospital which is quite far away from our college campus so much time goes wasted in traveling!..here our batch is divided into 3 units with 11 members in each unit..this makes it quite congested but with an advantage that we can easily join other unit classes [since here each floor is divided into unit cubicles unlike in the other hospital where each unit is assigned a separate room]..overall till now we have had 3 case discussions in 3 days which is quite a good start !!!..till now am just trying to be perfect with case taking formats and all and from next week will start studying the theory part....!!!

some say "Content is King, but the Emperor needs good clothes"...whats your thought about this??....and request my fellow bloggers to give suggestions regarding my blog:)!!!

today april 7th is World health day and this years theme is " “protecting health from climate change” which puts health at the centre of the global dialogue about climate change...Examples of such collaborative actions taken by WHO regarding this are:
strengthening surveillance and control of infectious diseases, ensuring safer use of diminishing water supplies, and coordinating health action in emergencies

yeah guilty..thts what am feeling now..reason being wasting last 3 days just like that without doing something constructive..!:(..had skin postings till sat..so was little laid back and all..and had really planned to start medicine during this time but couldn't implement any of those..from past 3 days was just killing time by sleeping,eating[in short oomahe] and browsing and of course blogging:)...these are one of those days where u just feel like doing nothing and laziness tries to overcome u in every possible way (and also manages to do so)...and in fact tried to help myself by watching some inspirational videos but unfortunately that too didn't work! [though was inspired for a minute or so]..tomorrow have one more day of holiday and hope atleast this time will utilize it properly...!!!...:)

old dog new tricks!..

while going through the mails one of my friends in her reply had mentioned this saying "old dog cant learn new tricks".found it quite interesting so googled it and found out this!-actually the saying goes like this "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." And while there is some truth in it, it is also probably one of the most misunderstood maxims. Note that the subject of the maxim is not the dog; the subject is you. "You can't teach..." The saying is not, "Old dogs cannot learn new tricks." The problem isn't with the old dog; it's with you!!...this holds good to everyone of us here who in the name of some lame excuse just refuse to learn something new in our life inspite of knowing that it may help us in the long run!!

this is our 2nd week in skin postings and we have started taking some good exam oriented cases [usually one skin case will be given as a short case in medicine]....as usual going through the cases admitted in the skin wards we came across a patient with a familiar face who had psoriasis...at first glance we were unable to recognize him but not giving much importance to this we decided to take his history [even though we knew about the diagnosis]..while doing so came to know that he had he was on lithium therapy and remembered that it was the same patient we had seen 2 years ago in the psychiatric ward (when we were posted there) for having a bipolar disorder (lithium therapy was one of the precipitating factors for his skin condition].
this really scared the crap out of me [u cant trust a person with a known psychiatric illness] but somehow managed to complete the case.When asked to come to the hospital skin opd with us [to present the case to the professor] he just refused[!] telling that an assistant professor had promised him to give him some medicine in the wards that day and he doesn't want to miss that [ this is a lie coz here in Victoria hospital no professor encourages medication in the wards]..this made us think that he still needs some of those psychiatric medications and out of frustration we asked our pg to convince the patient which she eventually did with the patient vowing to take any action against the pg if he happens to miss his so called medications..finally we presented the case to a pg and managed to learn some thing...
