after 2 weeks of paeds i shd admit that am really enjoying it...first of all its after exams[aipg] which has made me totally relaxed[stress free!] and also it happens to my subj of interest.
Paeds is totally diffn..here u r more of a friend than a doc and children really adore u if u become one[not heroworship and all].They are just so pure and innocent which exactly makes me like them.Best part is that they just obey ur orders when they r told those golden words "chocolate"[often misused also].

p.s-
this is the first time in internship where am really enjoying my work...its just work and fun.

One more duty coming up tomo...u just see few cases,sleep well[6-8hrs] and go home happily with a day off[HOD thinks we work our ass off during duties]...

as a vet doc...

One obvious similarity between a vet doc and a paediatrician is the patient..both cant talk[except for older ones] and diseases must be cured based on interpretations/histories of the attendars[parents]...and many times obviosly u end up making assumptions or rely on lab findings for the proper diagnosis.


one of the most absurb/annoying thing i have seen in opds r the parents themselves..they just exaggerate symptoms and animatedly describe things where they corelate every possible incident with the childs sickness..i agree tht parents get anxious abt their kins health but by doing so u just end up confusing the doc.

whether its a 10yr old or a 15yr old child[adolescent] parents still[immature ones] demand or syrups..wth!...15 yr old and still make them take syrups[which they hate really]!...plz grow up people!!

yesterday we had an identical twin nabiulla and sayiulla[names changed]...they were so identical that after examining Nulla we found out that in fact it was Sulla who was sick.

"injection dalvado" is the expression which we hear often..even for a simple sneeze/cough they demand[request] for injections and that too for a 2yr old ones...still havent understood whether its their ignorance which make them beahve like this or they just want to exploit the govn.

CB and 3 idiots row is making a lot of noise in the media these days[rediff comes up with a new masala article every other day] saying CB is betrayed and bollyw people[like always] betrayed a writer artist of his respect/recognition etc....
but one thing is clear-they r legally right but only morally wrong and shd have credited him properly or atleast admit that they have flicked his story from the book[not saying its just 2-5%]...dont know whether he is really hurt[think so] or is just creating all this gimmick for money/fame[which he already has] and moreover unfortunately[for VVChopra] media always suppport a david in war[in india minority rule]...

time-night[around 11pm]
people involved-ortho pgs,patients and ward boy

in ortho its a common thing to get fracture cases during night duties and in most of the cases to stabilize[and also to decrease pain] pops[plaster of paris] are put as a initial emergency medical aid and further managed depending on the patient[finance]/docs.

actual scenario-
a patient with obvious fracture comes to the emergency and one of my pg after initial routine[history,doing MLC and xrays] decides to put pop and tells[request-u cant order these self important jerks!] one of the ward boys to put the pop...after everything [putting cast] the ward order plainly demands money[pretty hefty] from the patient telling the dr himself has asked for it[pure exploitation].
After a few days some how this pg comes to know abt this[from the patient themselves] and so from then on in a heroic way[he was in 1st yr then] decides to put all the casts himself[in order to save their money]...satisfied/with pride[after putting some] at last walks into the duty room and narrates[to his senior pg] all this...senior pg then calmly replies "now tht u have personally gone to put pop ward boy would charge double the amount saying he has personally called u for the work"

p.s-
that was the last time he put the cast himself in his life....
those who think all govn docs r corrupt r wrong....

anniversary-2nd

this day that year...16th dec 2007 was when i started blogging and have been happily continuing doing so till today...best part about this is that its a hobby which i like doing and coz of this have been able to connect with some really wonderful people[and writers] whom i didnt even know and cared to spend their time reading my blog and pen down their opinion.
A big thank u for all those who made me to continue this till today[with their feedbacks and comments] and also those who care to read it [and dont comment].

have u ever been to a fish market?[non vegs]
i have never been to one[am a egg eating veggie] but guess it will be somewhat similar to the ops in our departments on mondays...lots of people[with all sorts of complaints] shouting and running here and there and we like vendors trying to convince[or somehow escape] them somehow.This is so coz all the weekend cases would have been accumulated[unless its an emergency] and they on monday would just drop in into opds[even more so in ophthal since emergency cases r too less] causing the mad rush.

watched Boondock saints-very stylishly filmed movie with good storyline...do watch it if u r a fan of such movies[like man on fire,usual suspects]

today had been my last OT[major postings] and was feeling all nostalgic...if i dont take a surgical field it will be last time ever i will wear a OT dress....

"please sir just few prescriptions of these[/day]"...this is what i have been hearing from MRs[medical reps] in opds who visit regularly [whole week] and bombard the innocent docs[interns] sitting there with loads of new meds[trade names of same old drugs] and rarely sometimes with free samples...sometimes i find more MRs than the patients in the department wandering here and there with their bags and targeting/torturing every pg/intern they come across.More often it has so happened that its difficult to decide whether to talk to them or to the patients who keep pestering us with their year[like one patient who has a pain problem from 15 years but has never bothered to show it to any doc] old problems.
on the brighter side they r few advantages as well-free meds,pens[which i never use] and get to learn quite a few funky cool trade names[atleast it impresses the patient!] of the drugs.

p.s-
1-those of u who think am a sadist and experiment on patients like guinea pigs r mistaken...we write[most of the times] only those drugs which r safe and dont have any untoward rxns.
2-ortho is such a dull field-just xrays/pulling,pushing/mending bones....
3-had been to my native yest-@ seaside[west coast]

days ahead...

after 2 weeks of ortho i have-
put just 3 slabs[pops]
assisted in another 3-5
written about 50-80 painkillers[bread and butter of ortho]
in OTs have done practically nothing except for some pion and paper works...


in short-life in ortho sucks[compared to obg] with too many duties/ots....

p.s-
1-finally had been to 2012..quite a nice movie though 1st half was little boring..
2-MRs[medical representatives] come to every opd and give us a list of latest drugs in the market[coax us!] which we experiment on the patients...write the same drug for few of the patients and in case u get bored[or until u memorize it properly] jump to another one..lol..and its quite fun!!;)
3-studies have gone gone for a toss...hardly i study these days...:(...may be coz of lack of motivation plus too many duties...

the game begins now...

no more free days[atleast for the next few weeks] where i can just ideally in opds and while away my precious time...its time for some broken bones,nut.bolt,pops and muscle flexion[to pull,push etc!]

from tomo actual ortho begins...had physiotherapy till now...
2 night duties in 4 days:( and moreover this rain has so much increased the incidence of rtas making our life miserable!![every 3rd accident case coming to casualty]

after ladies club its time to be in a boys club..i mean after obg its time for ortho postings...its been 2 days since it has started and till now[as expected] havent come across a single female[any age,height or weight!] in the department[not considering sisters and ayas]....

even the cases i come across are so monotonous...either fracture/rta[rd traffic accident] or some chronic pain case...and now itself i have realised this subj is not my cup of tea[as pg] and hoping to finish it as soon as possible and move on with my other postings.

p.s-

1-a thief when caught red handed and tried to escape fell from a roof top and unfortunately landed up in our department[me on duty] yesterday with 3 broken bones.!!

2-i really miss those cute babies[and babes] in obg!!:(

just 5 more days to go in obg...already feeling nostalgic[and sad]...will miss those cute/tiny/innocent babies[thats the reason i wanna be a paediatrician]...moreover dont know whether i get to work here again in my life time[unless i take my pg here].

saw LONDON DREAMS movie...overall was a pretty good movie..but as some of them said think needs some reality check [do we need that?]...just learn to enjoy the movie as it is and leave behind the logic/reality check[which most of them dont]!!

doing surgery mcqs for entrance and am totally loving it...loving the logic behind  answering some of the qns and the way it improves ur overall clinical knowledge:)...my only regret is that i didnt do this during my surg postings[internship]:(

is anyone really interested in  wht u eat/see/drink??...frankly i dont enjoy twittering anymore....that way fb rocks...atleast can put some pics/chat/have fun;)

getting to see some pretty good nurses around wards these days....actually its fun talking to some them[;)] and appr the dedication they show unlike some stupid,overgrown useless senior sisters[totally hate them to core]
