To fight aloud, is very brave

To fight aloud, is very brave --
But gallanter, I know
Who charge within the bosom
The Cavalry of Woe --

Who win, and nations do not see --
Who fall -- and none observe --
Whose dying eyes, no Country
Regards with patriot love --

We trust, in plumed procession
For such, the Angels go --
Rank after Rank, with even feet --
And Uniforms of Snow.

-Emily Dickinson

mumbai attack

In one of the most violent terror attacks on Indian soil, Mumbai came under an unprecedented night attack as terrorists used heavy

machine guns, including AK-47s, and grenades to strike at the city's most high-profile targets -- the hyper-busy CST (formerly VT)city rail terminus; the landmark Taj Hotel at the Gateway and the luxury Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point; the domestic airport at Santa Cruz; the Cama and GT hospitals near CST; the Metro Adlabs multiplex and Mazgaon Dockyard -- killing at least 80 and sending more than 900 to hospital, according to latest reports

A reporter talks on her phone as smoke is seen coming from Taj Hotel in Mumbai November 27, 2008.

my heart felt condolences for the people dead and injured!!!!.....

update today-8.00am-Fresh firing erupted early on Thursday in Taj hotel as commandos moved in to flush out terrorists holding some foreigners hostage.

young boy and a great teacher

this is one of my favourite stories by Robin Sharma.....
enjoy.....

once a young boy travelled far
from his home to study under a great teacher. When he met the
wise old man, his first question was, 'How long will it take me
before I am as wise as you?'
"The response came swiftly, 'Five years.'
"'This is a very long time,' the boy replied. 'How about if I
work twice as hard?'
'"Then it will take ten,' said the master.
'"Ten! That's far too long. How about if I studied all day and
well into the night, every night?'
'"Fifteen years,' said the sage.
"'I don't understand,' replied the boy. 'Every time I promise to
devote more energy to my goal, you tell me that it will take longer.
Why?'
'"The answer is simple. With one eye fixed on the destination,
there is only one left to guide you along the journey'"

"Be patient and live with the knowledge that all you are searching for is certain to come if you prepare for it and expect it."

this happens to my 251 post!!...:)...

Marfan syndrome

Marfan syndrome (or Marfan's syndrome) is a genetic disorder of the connective tissue affecting about 0.02% of the population....People with Marfan's are typically tall, with long limbs and long thin fingers.

Although there are no unique signs or symptoms of this syndrome, the constellation of long limbs[arm span being more than ur length by 5cm], dislocated lenses[one inside ur eyeballs], and aortic root dilation is sufficient to make the diagnosis with confidence. There are more than thirty other clinical features that are variably associated with the syndrome most involving the skeleton, skin, and joints

Olympic champion Michael Phelps [swimmer] is rumored[!] to be suffering from this though not proven yet!...

thumb sign[Steinberg sign]
-is said to positive when completely opposed within the clenched hand, projects beyond the inner border..... patient in the pic below has been admitted to our paeds wards with a cardiac problem and is diagnosed to have this syndrome[he is almost 6 feet tall and is just 14yrs old]......

another strike

another strike has crippled the services of government hospitals....this time its by government doctors demanding the regularization of all the contract based employed doctors and protection for doctors against atrocities and assault[by patients]!...it was effectively started from monday ....many government hospitals has been effected by this and all the opd, wards and emergency services have been suspended there....
in our hospital[Victoria and Vanivilas] only emergency services have been functioning this week and hence many referred cases from other govn hospitals have been coming here....in fact on friday they even refused to conduct mtp[medical termination of pregnancy] on a 4 month lady[unmarried] since it was not an emergency!!.....

post 007

yesterday 17 of us went to watch the newly released bond movie "Quantum of Solace"....after much hype[from rediff!] and publicity we had really good expectations from the movie..but after watching i realized its a just an ordinary overhyped action[??] movie...really disappointed with the story line[half of which we couldnt follow] and also the action sequences weren't that great[which reminds u of Bourne series]....

only plus point in the movie was the theme song which i liked it!!

really miss those old bond movies especially "die another Day"...:(

"copied"

many of us would have copied in exams atleast once in our life....
when i was in high school myself and my twin bro[in case u forgot i have one!:D] used to copy a lot[i admit it] and infact we used to work as a team[a successful one:D]..later when i entered college[11th] i realized the unimportance of it and hence that habit of mine gradually wore off and fortunately it has continued till now....
but today when one of my close friends requested me to share the answer sheet with him during internals[surgery] i agreed instantly being unaware of the thing what was abt to unfold there....in the class the examiner on seeing us conversing thought i was the culprit and calmly signatured "copied" on my ans sheet!.....

i could have requested him[i just hate him] after internals regarding this but didn't do it since it wasn't my fault and to be frank don't blame my friend either for what happened!...

DExter

have a look at this new teleserial aired in fox....have watched the first 8 ep of s01 and i liked it very much[pretty much addicted!]...
brief summary of the series-
During the day, Dexter Morgan is a jovial employee in the Miami Metropolitan Police Department's crime lab, but his meticulously crafted life masks his true nature. In reality Dexter is a disciplined and murderous psychopath (a self-admitted "monster"), and he slakes his blood lust at night by carefully killing the serial killers he tracks down during the day
