Exam was tough but not tough if u "prepare" and go...sound concepts and revision will save you...
I started from Feb ( for may exam) with 9-4job/night shifts ...

started with basic science and then medicine...
Basic -easterbrook basics book
Medicine -only mrcp book u ever need and Karla (reference)....NHS /nice for reference only
Did subject wise first (like neuro then cardio)..then mixed and did everything together...made notes for difficult ones and read before exam date....

Its your exam and its you who shd prepare and go for it...be confident... I repeat again that exam is not tough if u prepare for it

Key s medicine(each paper 60%med) coz many qns in basics also are medicine based ....
Regarding mcqs-did on examination only... could do only half (around 1.5k out of 3k)....and "revised" what I read.. Its always better to read one set of qns many times then many QN banks once ....
In between opds /duties revised from android app (rapid revision mrcp1)

Am a post MD candidate and now going for DM (super speciality) and doing mrcp is my dream...so if a post MD with 9-4pm job can make it anyone can.

Exam day -6hrs and 2papers -only 2things will help u- preparation and common sense approach which comes from practice /clinics

So guys plan and work hard and smartly too...

Home visit....

Am back after a weekend brk... Had been to bangalore....actually election was the reason I had initially planned for this off but ended up going out friends (bowling ),movie (ironman3) and play games in my cell but never voted....having changed our home recently our names from the list was removed and we not applying for a new voter id messed the things up...my whole family ended up not casting the vote....
Today was the opd day and having no work after 1 may be in the eveng will study a bit....

Me to the patient-u have this breathing problem since how many years?

Patient-since quite some time...

Me in little pissed off mood-cant u say properly....quite some time means what?....5 years?(sarcastically with a smile).....

Patient-no sir ten years...

Medicine....

Peripheral postings from today..internal medicine for 15 days...had rounds in their ward today....internship ke puraane yaadein taaza hogaye :)

change in me...

these days i feel that i have changed a bit....u can see me listening to bakti slokas or go to a temple quite often...and dep inside frankly i feel sometimes that am getting older..this feeling comes especially whenever i meet some young kids[and cousins] and the way people talk to me...after joining PG people think[relatives] that am settled and no more a young chap who used to be a student...and now having crossed 25 years of age i feel that one whole part of my life ie youth is almost over and have stepped in to the 2nd phase of my life...my only fear is whether i will be able to stay young and feel it as years pass by.....

my new neighbours here..parrots!..being an animal lover this is a treat to me..

time to have a taste of my own medicine...on medical leave for  a day....cough with some low grade fever...hope to be alright by tomorrow....;)

an obese man brought to casualty with unconscious state at morning 9am.....known case of TB already on catg 1 ATT....i was called immediately [yeah tb anywhere...even hairs..we are called first :O]....vitals were stable[spo2,bp] so i referred to medicine after ruling out hypoxic encephalopathy........med team tk CT immediately which was normal and we concluded it must be a OSA case with CO2 narcosis.....everyone [med and me] eagerly scratching their brain fr the diagnosis and putting up various DDs for this...when ABG turned out to be normal we were clueless..............

it turned out to be a simple case of alcohol intoxication.......he had boozed previous night nicely[this history was hidden by the attender till then]

BEWEDA SAALA...HAMARA JEENA HARAAM KAR DIYA.......!!

miracles do happen...

a guy who was pushed off a train to brought to casualty with both his legs cut into 2 pieces[leg pieces in a plastic bag]...

me[as CMO] to ortho resident-i think he is dead bro!

ortho resident-he is breathing asshole...common boys its time save him!!

miraculously he is resuscitated and brought back to life  with fluids etc by the ortho and casualty team!!


this what gives me more happiness...not some OBAMA winning some damn election somewhere....CHANGE wont happen to us right?

now tht obama wins..every tom dick and harry sitting in their office here wants to fbook it...wht crap!!

snake bite case this morning..patient was pretty bad....managed to gd this pic.....obviously dead now.....a COBRA! (Brought  by a patient's kin)

Post duty..

2 back to back shifts yesterday....pretty much tired.....a short nap now ..then again back for an afternoon shift....but frankly am loving my new job...as a CMO....u get to learn new things and nice people to meet...and best part is that u get post duty off....

beginning....

1-loads and loads of OPD cases who cleverly bypass it and land up in casualty for medications...[who rarely succeed]
2-road traffic accidents...being a tertiary centre you shoud be ready for this...being a MLC[medico legal case] u shd be extra cautious regarding documenting and handling the crowd...already 2 cases in my pocket today.....
3-emotional ladies......those who are always ready to pop up a tablet for no reason and land up in casualty with their extra caring husband[read frustrated]...am talking about poisoning...from 10 to 40 yr olds female gender this is so common...this also being a MLC you in a soup if u mess up[like the husband when the wife survives].
4-staff patient....real PIA types[Pain In the Ass]....always extra demanding and try to boss u[even a chapraasi is a staff right?]....but we really don't give a damn for them.
5-real sick cases....this is the reason your posted there..do a quick triage and refer to the parent department...this s where your medical knowledge will play a role....
6-help my colleagues-any respiratory case comes am expected to

this sums up my 1st day in casualty today...

p.s-

best part is that you are your own BOSS..u can dictate terms..and also sometimes get to work with nice people :D

5 more days..

5 more days and am out of this stupid department..no ward rounds,presentations,sick cases,fights[with patient attenders] for a month...will be posted as a CMO[casualty medical officer]..cool job....just 6 hrs duties /day and post night shifts off and moreover get to met new people[read  nice interns :D].....yeah baby!!

Planning to shift my base here for few days...toothbrush,towel etc

P.s-
These excess night shifts just kill my health...more duties means junk fd outside....have already kept one foot in preobese state.

Have planned for a movie and some nearby places visit...and then back to pondicherry @ 6pm bus today.

Bored

In radiation oncology block....simulation rm....place where actual planning fr each case is done by a resident for the radiation purpose.....(dose,site,duration etc)
No lung cases at all and frankly am not interested in other oncology cases....

hate this,,,

hate my life....

another weekend  ends..2 presentations,grand round,2 night duties in next 4 days......feeling stressed already....

luckily have to sustain this drill only till this month end coz from next month am in periphery[posted out of the department] for 15 days.....
