everything commercialised!..

today i went to get my blood tested.....just wanted to do some basic tests like complete hemogram...these basic tests are really easy to do[since have done those myself at my uncles lab]..was surprised when i saw my bill..it was abt 400rs just for some 4-5 basic tests...
some rightly said medicine has really been commercialized these days and to be frank cant blame then also since they have to recover their investment!....

Kapils Knock-25th anniversery

June 18 may not ring a bell but Kapil Dev’s unbeaten 175 surely does! Twenty-five years ago on this same date, the then Indian captain played a stunner that has become the stuff of legend over the years.
Kapil’s masterpiece breathed life into an innings that almost suffered the death-rattle at 17 for five against Zimbabwe at Tunbridge Wells in the Prudential World Cup. In a do-or-die match, Kapil’s knock helped India score 266 for eight in 60 overs and eventually defeat Zimbabwe by 31 runs. The victory eased India’s path to the semifinals and the rest is history
Lets salute such a great cricketer for this wonderful moment today!!!....

suspence

A man is driving down the road and breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?

the monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, We can't tell you. You're not a monk.

The man is disappointed but thanks them anyway and goes about his merry way. Some years later, the same man breaks down in front of the same monastery. The monks again accept him, feed him, even fix his car.

That night, he hears the same strange noise that he had heard years earlier.

The next morning, he asks what it is, but the monks reply, We can't tell you. You're not a monk. The man says, All right, all right. I'm dying to know. If the only way I can find out what that sound was is to become a monk, how do I become a monk?

The monks reply, You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of sand pebbles. When you find these numbers, you will become a monk.

The man sets about his task. Some forty-five years later, he returns and knocks on the door of the monastery. He says, I have traveled the earth and have found what you have asked for. There are 145,236,284,232 blades of grass and 231,281,219,999,129,382 sand pebbles on the earth.

The monks reply, Congratulations. You are now a monk. We shall now show you the way to the sound.

The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, The sound is right behind that door.

The man reaches for the knob, but the door is locked. He says, Real funny. May I have the key?

The monks give him the key, and he opens the door. Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man demands the key to the stone door. The monks give him the key, and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. He demands another key from the monks, who provide it. Behind that door is another door, this one made of sapphire. So it went until the man had gone through doors of emerald, silver, topaz, and amethyst.

Finally, the monks say, This is the last key to the last door.

The man is relieved to no end. He unlocks the door, turns the knob, and behind that door he is amazed to find the source of that strange sound.

. . . . But I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk

hmm....

finally we are midway in our surgery postings....actually have seen only few cases in these 3 weeks....those being hernia, appendicitis,TAO,thyroid case and umbilical hernia , one GOo{gastric outlet obstruction} case and a rare gynaecomastia case[presence of breast in a male..here the cause was unknown and they simply excised it as a precaution as 10% of these may turn in to a malignancy]...our unit is pretty dull and many times we have to run and join other units for discussion!...we had OT yesterday and i bunked it!...the problem is after medicine postings surgery subject becomes pretty dull!...here[in surgery] there isnt much abt history taking and also the examination part is pretty easy[in the sense u need not be an expert to pick up the signs from the patient]!!....overall its quite unsatisfactory!!!...hope we see some more good cases in the next 2 weeks....

my birthday celebrations were pretty good...gave treat to my close friends!....and got few parker pens[4!] and a frame as gift from my friends!!!..:)

“Father Forgets”

Father Forgets” is one of those little pieces which dashed
of in a moment of sincere feeling - strikes an
echoing chord in so many readers
It originally appeared as an editorial in the
People's Home Journnl.Since its first appearance , “Father
Forgets" has been reproduced on countless
occasions and programs.

Listen, son: I am saying this as you lie asleep, one little
paw crumpled under your cheek and the blond curls stickily
wet on your damp forehead. I have stolen into your room
alone. Just a few minutes ago, as I sat reading my paper
in the library, a stifling wave of remorse swept over me.
Guiltily I came to your bedside.
There are the things I was thinking, son: I had been cross
to you. I scolded you as you were dressing for school because
you gave your face merely a dab with a towel. I took
you to task for not cleaning your shoes. I called out angrily
when you threw some of your things on the floor.
At breakfast I found fault, too. You spilled things. You
gulped down your food. You put your elbows on the table.
You spread butter too thick on your bread. And as you
started off to play and I made for my train, you turned
and waved a hand and called, “Goodbye, Daddy!” and
I frowned, and said in reply, “Hold your shoulders
back!”
Then it began all over again in the late afternoon. As I
came up the road I spied you, down on your knees, playing
marbles. There were holes in your stockings. I humiliated
you before your boyfriends by marching you ahead of me to
the house. Stockings were expensive - and if you had to
buy them you would be more careful! Imagine that, son,
from a father!
Do you remember, later, when I was reading in the library,
how you came in timidly, with a sort of hurt look in
your eyes? When I glanced up over my paper, impatient at
the interruption, you hesitated at the door. “What is it you
want?” I snapped.
You said nothing, but ran across in one tempestuous
plunge, and threw your arms around my neck and kissed
me, and your small arms tightened with an affection that
God had set blooming in your heart and which even neglect
could not wither. And then you were gone, pattering up the
stairs.
Well, son, it was shortly afterwards that my paper slipped
from my hands and a terrible sickening fear came over me.
What has habit been doing to me? The habit of finding fault,
of reprimanding - this was my reward to you for being a
boy. It was not that I did not love you; it was that I expected
too much of youth. I was measuring you by the yardstick of
my own years.
And there was so much that was good and fine and true in
your character. The little heart of you was as big as the
dawn itself over the wide hills. This was shown by your
spontaneous impulse to rush in and kiss me good night.
Nothing else matters tonight, son. I have come to your bed-side
in the darkness, and I have knelt there, ashamed!
It is a feeble atonement; I know you would not understand
these things if I told them to you during your waking
hours. But tomorrow I will be a real daddy! I will chum
with you, and suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you
laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come. I
will keep saying as if it were a ritual: “He is nothing but a
boy - a little boy!”
I am afraid I have visualized you as a man. Yet as I see
you now, son, crumpled and weary in your cot, I see that
you are still a baby. Yesterday you were in your mother’s
arms, your head on her shoulder. I have asked too much,

no 2 vs no 1 again!

good news for Nadal fans-

Triple champion Rafael Nadal demolished Novak Djokovic while Roger Federer struggled past Gael Monfils as the superpowers of men's tennis set up a third successive French Open final today.

Second seed Nadal eased to a 6-4 6-2 7-6 (7-3) win over world number three Djokovic in a match he described as 'perfect' to take his Roland Garros record to 27 wins in 27 matches.

The 22-year-old Spaniard is now just one victory away from equalling Bjorn Borg's feat as the only four-in-a-row winner of the men's title

lets hope he makes it..:)

The people's doctor

Dr Pappu Haldar, 24, does not want to speak much about his educational qualification. Dr Haldar, who hails from North 24 Pargana district in West Bengal, is a doctor in a slum of some 5,000 people in Jaipur, most of whom are illegal Bangladeshi immigrants
"There was no opportunity there and I wanted to get out of that place. I chose Jaipur for two reasons. One I have a cousin here and I thought it would be easier for me to come and live with him as I set up my practice," he says before adding: "And the important reason was that Jaipur being a hot place would have more diseases and cases than other parts of the country."
Dr Haldar came to Jaipur in 2003 and settled down at his cousin's home. "I practiced from a small place next to where we lived. That was when I heard about this slum and I was told there were no doctors here," he said
Dr Haldar charges Rs 20 per sitting as consultation fees. If there is someone in need of a dose of drips, it will cost them Rs 120. He even has stocked a few medicines that are exclusively for times of emergency for patients whose history he knows
All in a day's work for a man who came here only because he thought hot place = more diseases = better business

Frogs...!!!

FROGS

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arranged a running competition.

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....

The race began....

Honestly:

No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower.

You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"

"They will NEVER make it to the top."

"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher....

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....

But ONE continued higher and higher and higher....

This one wouldn ' t give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally want ed to know how this one frog managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal?

It turned out....

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:

Never listen to other people ' s tendencies to be

negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have.

Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions!

Therefore:

ALWAYS be....

POSITIVE!

And above all:

Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

Always think:

God and I can do this!

Pass this message to "tiny frogs" you care about.

Give them some motivation!!!

am back!
