life in med

this is my 2nd week in medicine and now i feel have quite well adjusted to my work...

on mondays i will be too busy as its opd day and on the same day after 4 will have emergency duty[till 4 in the morning]...this is one place where i really enjoy working...every case u come across here will be critical and hardly u get time to think on the spot there...from poisoning ,suicide cases to kidney, liver failure u get to see all sorts of cases and some times the patients input will be so high that u don't get beds for the patients and experience wise also u learn everything from a nurse job to that of a doc...
next day will be ur post opd day where the profs concerned see the cases and advice the pgs[its more of finding fault in what u have not done]...imagine one prof,2 assistant,7pgs and 3 interns going together for rounds...i just love this part and its when u get the feeling like a real doc...
on other days ur[read interns] just busy doing investigations and collection reports and writing discharge summaries....
overall i have started enjoyingmy work but unluckily my studies have really been affected.

p.s-one more night icu duty tomo.....so one more day of less sleep and more work....

Truth be told, in Russia the extent of experiences with the patients is quite less, in comparison to India. I therefore really look forward to handling the cases in India, during my internship, the opd and stuff. Frankly only then will I really feel like a doc.
Otherwise right now I am just filled with theoretical info with little practical use for it!!
Guess the real learning begins when u start practice!!

OMG!! You people are left with no life at all or what??

I have heard that being a doc is a real pain...Now I can read how...

You knw the best thing abt the whole thing is you are enjoying and learning. I am sure this wud carry a long way when u wud have a cursory glance at the patient and you would know the probable malfunctions...

Oh Medicine.........thats my favourite subject, dude. The onething I have been noticing in my college and other colleges like urs(with ur description of ur work) is that an Internee is most of the times given manual work rather than intellectual work. There's a chance that this may have impact on our intellectual performance. Dude,I'm sorry that u r extremely loaded with work. Hope u have a bright future. All the best......
